Anchors, rope and chain

combinations can be difficult to choose even for the experienced boater. A general rule of thumb is to allow 7' of anchor line with a 10' length of chain at the business end for every one foot of water. This can, however be rather difficult or impossible when you are anchoring in very deep water. One method of shortening the required length of rode is to use more or all chain.
